Seatbelt ratchet mechanism....

#1 Post by redrichie » Thu Aug 17, 2006 5:24 pm

So the interior is going in really well, got the rear and the carpets in, doing the front seatbelts and I hit a snag. The seatbelts appear to have "locked off"....how can I get them to release??????

They will only work properly located at the correct angle and position. Are they fitted the correct way or are you trying to operate them out of the car.
can anyone take a picture of how they are supposed to be fitted...two hours later and i still can't get them to work....<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/mad.gif ALT=">:">

They are on the car, I never undid the top bolt, I have the (from outside to inside) Bolt head, spring washer, body of inertia reel, washer, lower end fitting of belt, then a washer with spacer attached, into the body....

Tried at every angle I can think of, I must be doing something wrong surely....it's only a fricking seatbelt...<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/mad.gif ALT=">:">

I had a bit of fun doing SE passenger one, main problem was all the belt was wound on the reel, so had to release a few feet, job ended up taking me about an hour, mostly consisting of shaking it, shouting at it using words such as "GGGGRRRRRRRRRRRR" "FOOOOKIN FOOOKER MUST BE FOOKED" "GRRRRRRR".

strangely I also looked at what washers went where etc and was convinced I'd done something wrong too.

try the above, makes you feel much better, and then suddenly it'll just work!!!!
