White Paint Muddles

I have been trying for a while to get some paint for small white dolly. Easy enough you might think. Nah! The code on the car points to Porcelain White. Sadly, the paint on the car doesn't, not even close. I tried a few different paints, Leyland White, Rover White but they didn't really match. Big white dolly is also white (Code 19 - HAB - Triumph White), so I looked at that, nope, it's different. After much hair pulling, or attempted hair pulling (if you've met me you know what I mean) I decided to go to a local paint supplier. He was very helpful and eventually we found a match!!!!!<br>

Leyland Diamond White.... what the hell is that? Never heard of it. Ford Diamond White - yep. <br>

Anyone know of it? Seems like little white dolly has had a blow over at some point maybe?? I now sympathise with Matt who had similar problems matching the white paint on his dolly. None of the cars I've ever worked on (Ok, probably about half a dozen) have ever matched their factory paint code. Most have them have faded to a greater or lesser extent, and I usually end up sending a bit off for paint matching.

I must admit, the russet time bomb takes hours polishing as it's 50 different shades close up.

if you want to match 25+ yr old paint the only way to do it is get a good paint man to mix it.<br>

simple as that, no in between, no grey areas, pretty black n white really if you'll excuse the pun-ish type thing.<br>

Rover White Diamond, used from about 96 on, if you've got DM issue 113 you'll see Rover White Diamond on a Rover 600 next to Leyland White on a Dolly Sprint. Rover White Diamond is normally clear over base.<br>

Either your Dolly has 'aged' paint wise or someone has given it a blow over, very few sport their original paint these days.<br>

Ken, I think I'm gonna find myself in a similar situation with Snowdrop as she's had a respray at some point in her life. Fortunately most of the paintwork seems to be OK. Just those damned brakes! If I can get them bled tonight I might just make that East Yorks meet...
