1500 Clutch problem.

#1 Post by Richard the old one » Sat Mar 13, 2004 9:38 pm

Recently I have had to replace the clutch on one of my 1500 dolomites. When I did this I discovered why the clutch operation has not felt quite right for some time. The clutch arm release fulcrum pin had dropped out. I believe this is a known problem. The tolerance ring becomes worn or weak and this allows the original designed parallel pin to drop out.

To prevent the problem reoccuring there is an alternative pin part number %%WORD54%'13 which has a lip or cap on one end that will stops the pin dropping out if it is fitted from above.

I now intend to fit the alternative pin when I have to undertake any further clutch changes as this is the second car that I have had this problem.

I hope that this information will be of use to fellow 1500 owners.
Clutch problem continued

For some reason the part number did not come up correctly on the original notice. It should have read ULC2713.

1500 clutch

I got stung badly with this with my car. I needed the clutch replacing and didn't feel confident enough to do the job myself so got someone else to have a go.......and then someone else after they'd botched it........loads of money later (and after being recovered by the RAC after one attempt) they "fixed it". I have since done the job myself and when I had the bits in my hands I could see it was to with the release arm pin. This isn't rocket science. Why is it that people say they can do things that they can't? <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /devil.gif ALT=":evil">
Another lesson (re)learnt!
