not an expert<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/eyes.gif ALT=":rolleyes"> but i think this may depend on whether axle came from 4 or 5 speed tr7.
axle ratios may be differant.
also is your 1850 o/d or non o/d! this may affect matters.

could someone clarify this<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

axle

Its actually a kit car with a complete mish mash of parts, thats the reason i'm trying to find if their are any alternatives. The engine-Sprint, gearbox-4 speed TR7 and the rear axle-1850 dolly, I think. Just trying to get everything straight in my own head then I can get it all ship shape for summer blatting.
If thats the case - Sprint engine with TR7 4-speed box and 1850 axle - be prepared to break some cogs/diffs/halfshafts!!

are you sure they arent sprint bits?

#7 Post by cedric » Tue Jan 27, 2004 10:19 am

Will the answer be to swap the 1850 axle for a sprint one then. Are they the same basic dimensions ie will I be able just to bolt it staright on.
Get a Sprint axle in there! Its nearly the same, just a few mm wider. Much much stronger too. It will "bolt-on", although the diff nose is longer so propshaft may need "adjustment".

The 1300 / 1500 / 1850 axle is cack.
That's OK, I can probably find you a propshaft too!

The extra mm are in the drums; wider shoes, bigger swept area, therefore better brakes. A winner all round then<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">
