Missed tagging a wire on dismantling , green wire coming out of the loom going to the alternator. It has an aftermarket crimp round connector so assume it goes to battery or an earth point. Not sure if it is original but it does seem to be in the original loom. Most green wires in the diagrams seem to go to switches.
Once i get a battery i may be able to track it down but in the mean time any idea what it is for..
Odd wire !
is it....
The wire for the water temp transmitter? It's the only green wire i can see that comes from that area on my late (82) Sprint.

Check to see if it goes to earth / if its connected to either fuse / to the voltage stabilizer.
Re: ...or the....
Me thinks if it's either of these two it may be redundant as i have a water temp gauge and an oil pressure gauge fitted. Can't remember it being loose before though so will wait until i get the battery going and see if i get any readings.
Re: ...or the....
The oil pressure wire comes out of the loom nearer the oil pressure switch. The one in with the alternator wires is for the temp. sender. I have a dual water temp & oil pressure gauge in my Sprint so that one is redundant on mine aswell.
Re: ...or the....
Thanks Martin for checking that out. Are you also running an electric fuel pump. My FACET one suggests an oil pressure switch for an emergency cut out. If you are running one where have to tapped this from.
