Speedo Identification

#1 Post by Stan Part » Thu Jul 20, 2006 8:29 pm

As posted somewhere else on the club forum, what the Hull does this belong to then?

I was given it by the chap who gave me all those Toledo bits a week or so ago, he said it came from a Toledo he broke up years ago. But as Jonners (so rightly says) it cannot be from either a Toledo or Dolomite 1300/1500 as it does not have lights in it for IGN/OIL/HIGH BEAM.

It cannot belong to a 1500HL as it has the trip reset on the front and not the remote one under the dash. It cannot be for a FWD 1300/1500 as it is the wrong style and has the "squared off" digits instead of the rounded ones.

Anyone

Isn't it from a late 1850?

I dunno, but I do know the late Sprints had the push button reset thingy on the front, but then again the numbers went up in 20s & not tens on the later ones.

Just been out into the garage and checked on the dash hanging on the wall (like you do) and as this is from a 1980 W plate 1850HL thought it might provide an answer.

NO!

As you can see it does have the Doo-Dah under the dash and not on the face, it does look very similar though.
Alan, that is a pre '76 dash you have hanging on the wall; look at the hazard switch.

Your speedo is late 1850HL or late 1500HL.

As usual....

Alun and I are right. This is from a late HL dolly. My W plate 1850 has a push button trip reset...the earlier ones even up to the V reg sprint have the twiddly knob.
Think it coincides with compulsory fog lights as the switch is where the reset used to be.
Thanks chaps.

Do you know I woke up at about 3.00am this morning, sat bolt up right in bed and thought "hang on that's the dash for the 74 1850 I broke up last year not the 80 one".

Sorry, yes, your all right (anorak points earned) I'll check out the 80 Dash which is stored in the garage loft space, but I'm sure you are all correct.

Job Done !
