RHD vs LHD Headlight Assemblies - Sprint

Finally after three years decided to "aim" my headlights on my Sprint. (RHD imported to the US in 2002). I found that there was not enough adjustment to be able to adjust them properly. Looking in catalogs, it appears that the entire bowl assemly is different for RHD and LHD cars.<br>

Is this so?<br>

If so, does anyone know where I might be able to find some LHD bowl assemblies for a Sprint? Or, is it as easy as switching the bowl assemblies from left to right?<br>

OR, could I drill out the rivets holding the bowl in, and turn the assembly 180 degrees, and drill new holes?<br>

I vaguely recall that if you're using sealed beams, the reflectors are all wrong for LHD. But I'm sure someone on here mentioned that the units from a late '60s Chevy Chevelle will fit right in and provide the correct pattern, or at least dolly lights fitted the Chevelle he had just imported to the UK.

The sealed beams will be different to give the beam patterns required.<br>

Regarding the aim; the mounts are not handed left to right and the holes in the inner panel are the same irrespective of side. I cannot believe they had a LH inner panel as at that stage of construction I doubt they even knew which model the car was to be other than HL spec or non HL so a solution with the existing set up should be achievable...

In Michigan, we don't have vehicle inspections, so I have never done anythign with the headlights. My car still has all four Lucas headlights and they all work just fine. The light up the road no problem.<br>

I notice the Rimmer catalog lists a RHD headlight and a LHD headlight. But I don't know the difference between the two.<br>
<br>
My 2500S also has the English headlights and it too is fine. With either car, I don't get drivers flashing their lights at me, so I know my car isn't bothering them.<br>

most 60's and 1970's yank tanks come with 4 x 5 1/4 inch round headlights surely getting some with a lhd dip beam pattern would be a doddle.<br>

I never bothered changing mine either. It did fail the inspection on headlight aim once so I took it somewhere else that wasn't as fussy! the inspection round these parts is a bit of a joke.<br>

It was my 69 Chevelle and i could not believe my luck when i found the lights were the same.<br>
Harry , most of your motor factors will stock the Chevelle lights or a scrap yard.<br>
I could have even sent you mine if i had not got rid of them as nobody seemed to want left handers at the time.<br>

Thanks everybody..I just got back from the Napa Auto Supply store. I bought the low beam (H5001) and high beam sealed units (H5006), matching them to a '69 Chevelle. They cost me $7.00usd each. Apparently it is a pretty standard item. I'll install them tonight and then try aiming them against the wall in the garage.<br>
