Are these really meant to be steel looking things with the slightest whiff of copper on one side?

My engine bits turned up today, but I'm less than canvinced a couple of thou of soft metal on a harder metal backing is really a good design! Makes me worry for the state of my crank if the originals are like that - It has a good mm or so of end float when I pull on the end <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /frown.gif ALT=":(">

Re: OHV Crank Thrusts
I think they are the good ones.

Thrust
OK then. Just looked like the skim of soft metal wouldn't last at all long, and the hard metal underneath would be busy chewing the crank in record time.

I'll get on and fit them and the mains and big ends as soon as I get chance this week. Should be fun, got to do it all in a day with the engine in situ...

white metal
the thrusts should have a good coating of the soft white metal they should look like big main bearings if you can see some copper then they have not got long left

Oops!
I think I might have been looking at them the wrong way round!

It does seem the metal is on the softer side, and the copperness is on the back not the face.

My excuse is I only quickly looked at them to check I'd got the right parts sent through, and recently I've been playing with old A series engines so I'm a bit rusty on Triumphs. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">
