Phil (and others)...
As I said in my post above, just because a company gives support to the club it doesn't give it the right to offer poor service to our members. As a service to members,we offer to mediate in the event of any dispute arising between a member and a trader/individual.However,this in no way stops individual members from making complaints directly to the company concerned, and I'm sure that any decent company would not hold the club responsible for any such complaint or criticism.I did point out the club's position on this in Dolly Mixture a few months ago,but in fairness to everyone,we admit we've not posted anything on this forum to warn people about posting potentially defamatory comments - to be honest,we've not needed to! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">
At the end of the day,we (the club) are just trying to get the best deal for our members.Club officers are just enthusiasts who were daft enough <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol"> to volunteer to run the club.We all pay our membership fees and receive no payment for doing what we do.We are members the same as everyone else, but if someone did decide to take legal action against the club for publishing libelous comments in our magazine or on our discussion forum,we'd be personally liable <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ns/eek.gif ALT=":eek"> .We're simply asking members (and non-members) not to use the club discussion board to criticise traders,as we might well end up in hot water. On the other hand,if there has been a blatant case of a company giving poor service and after having had the opportunity to put matters right, still failing to do so,we will make damn sure that our members get to hear the full story!
So Phil,my original post wasn't aimed at you (or any other individual),so no need to apologise whatsoever. The wonderful thing about this forum is that it gets people talking (obviously!),and out of the 10,000 or so articles which have been posted on here so far,we've only had a tiny handful which could have been considered a little controversial.I think that speaks volumes about how decent the users of this board are <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D"> .
Anyway,I think I'll get me coat now...
-Andy.
