FHP 923L, is the 1850 that was dressed to look like a sprint for photos.

CKV 2K

Reg date, 19/05/1972 (Free Tax)
Model, Sprint
Colour, White
Vin, X826
Engine number X1278E
Keepers, 2
Last change 12/06/1979

It has never been re-registered, which answers one question the first model name was Sprint, not 135 or Swift, or am I wrong?
Re: FRW story continues
VA1 is badged correctly. All cars that were badged originally as 135 were rebadged and renamed Sprint by factory when it was discovered that they could not achieve 135BHP on all production engines. 127 was the least BHP that the factory could achieve so if you were lucky back in 1973 you could have bought a new Sprint that had 8BHP or more compared to its neighbour on the production line. So MMsec, VA6 will only and should only wear standard early badges (can sell you a 135 badge though!)

VA1 was built late 1972 - cannot remember when but a trip to Coventry musuem will allow examination of the appropriate "ledger" for all Coventry registrations made by the factory.

For ref, VA124 was built 13 March 1973 and has engine number 132 and rear axle number 54. I cannot find the gearbox number but it is the original box as I have the full history of the car. Interestingly the file search at Swansea revealed that it was first registered as a "Triumph Sprint Van"!! Strangely there is a disagreement in body numbers between BMIHT and the actual body plate. BMIHT = 84427WB but vehicle says 84158WB. Incedentally, all "pre-production" Sprints were code named "swift" and GJ had this written in chalk in the rear face of the door trim panels.

John Glenn and OUE
Would that be OUE 829 M ?
I looked at and almost bought this car 2.5 years ago.
If the paintwork and interior had been better, or if the chap had dropped his price a bit more I'd have had it.
Anyone on here own it now?
Mark.

I was hoping for the title of oldest surviving roadworthy (well in a couple of months anyway) Sprint. Would love to know who has FRW 801L, anyone any suggestions.
Re: FRW 801L
801L?

There are some who would say that is a very apt personal plate for a Sprint...

I have a very early dolomite sprint - chassis number VA62DL
How many sprints are left with numbers under 100?
Regards Simon

Under 100
Simon
As far as cars known to the club/me go, then its
1 In Coventry Museum
6 Mine
62 Yours
!!!!
Over the past few years I have however seen advertised for sale 9, 44 and 60. None of these are club members cars.
A couple of others are over 100 I know of are 124 which belongs to a club member and 135 which I looked at when it was for sale about 3 or 4 years ago. This has since not reappeared despite a rather bizzare artice in Classic Car Weekly asking if this was an original Dolomite 135!!!

DVLA took it of record sometime ago.
