Insurance

#16 Post by Silvery » Mon Apr 05, 2004 4:35 am

Not a Sprint, I know, but 1,500 miles a year, fully comp, euro cover, some other things (I think) thrown in, 26 when I took out the policy, all for a mere 80 or so quid a year <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)"> Includes a tenner admin fee as I pay by three instalments. That's with Peter Best.

They don't do mods though, which is going to annoy me one day.

FJ were pants when I tried them - They demanded I join the TSSC or pay another 30 quid, and were twice as expensive as Peter Best anyway.

Those prices are for my 1500TC auto (group 7) and 1300fwd (also group 7 I think). From what I can tell a Sprint is group 12, but bear in mind I have no no claims as I've been on classic policies for the last couple of years, and I'm not nearing pension age yet <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

Various others were polite but wouldn't cover me, through to bloody ignorant and wouldn't cover me. Us under 30s shouldn't be allowed classic cars, was the impression I got from a few places <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ns/mad.gif ALT=">:">

I do wish FJ could've been more useful and nicer on the phone though, as it would be nice to go with them as I always have more than one car, and they seem to be good for if you've got a small "fleet" to play with.

I'm 30. Insurance with Lancaster for my 1850 is £240 - 10000 miles per year with breakdown cover, fully comp and protected no claims. Not bad if you have an accident either! They were very similar in price with my 1500 too.
30? I struggle to believe that!

Lancaster are good price wise, and better than Herts with paperwork and phone calls, but I had probs with them with renewals. Don't know what they're like for claims either, but they're nice enough to speak to on the phone most of the time.

'73 sprint, 3000 miles, £2500 agreed valn, 36 years old, £117 from heritage via chris knott, seems good value to me (certainly less than I pay the tax man).

Cheaper.

#21 Post by Davey » Wed Apr 07, 2004 11:24 pm

Had an insurance on the sprint a few year's ago, about £250, no limited miles or anything. Went back a couple of day's later to put wife's name on, came up about £40 cheaper. According to lass on the desk, each month they target different driver's with discount's. That month was Lady Driver's. Following month could of cost me £40 more.
