If you are thinking of the all alloy v8 bike headed lump you've mentioned I doubt many if any will have the dosh to beat you to it. In the (fine) words of Smifter, a full walletectomy that one.<br>

There's a guy in Southampton called Johan van Wyk, he owns a French Blue Sprint with a Rover 3.5 engine. I was chatting to him at Castle Combe a while back. I think his is a 2 door?

No Tin', that V8 is destined for the Elise one day, I have a much older V in mind for the Dolomite, but at dimensions of 30" long,24" wide, 27" high with the fan included perhaps Phil can save me a bit of time regarding fittability...?<br>

Rover V8 fits without lengthening the front of the car. On mine, the NS suspension turret has been modified to give a bit more space.<br>

If you're going for the rover lump, dry sump is the way forward if you want to be able to get over speed bumps! <br>
<br>
Exhaust is a pain in the butt - mine goes under the sump, which doesn't help the ground clearance issues. When I win the lottery, I will buy some "block hugger" manifolds and re-route the zorst past the gearbox (just about enough room).<br>
<br>
If you're running SU's, then it will <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><em>just</em><!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> fit under the bonnet. Most 4-barrels sit lower than the SU's with the right manifold. <br>
<br>
Mine's got a Rover V8 rad as well, which the previous owner needed to do some hacking of the front panel to get it to fit.<br>

All sounds like lots of effort to me. Play my trick: Wait for one to come along on ebay, and go wild with the bidding! <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :D --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/happy.gif ALT=":D"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> Much easier!<br>

Certainly not the best V8 lump in the world, but plenty quick enough when mated to the right box (70 in 2nd, 100 in 3rd, with 2 more cogs to play with) and my god does it make a lovely noise. (Mine's quite noisy - 103db @ 1ft from the pipe @ 3000rpm <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :D --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/happy.gif ALT=":D"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> )<br>

Edit: Oh, and 2500rpm is the resonant frequency that seems to set off german car alarms. I wonder why I'm so unpopular with the receptionists at work...?

Conquest was a 2.5 litre straight 6...century had twin carbs. Murdered by the Mk1 Jag...as was just about everything else sub bentley...<br>
Also did the original majestic with a 3.8 version of the six, pre the V8. <br>
I like the big damilers but they seem to survive in very small numbers...<br>

yea thats right got the wrong one years since i did one of them think the last job i did was on the brakes was the old council leaders transport and bought by the his driver car must be quite rare now.....nice old car <br>
