IIRC it was an almost produced hot toledo, 3 door, with a race spitfire engine, for use in rallying.

It was a 2 door 1500 (spitfire) engined car, black grill, Sprint coachlines, think it had more dials, colours were to be the bright sports cars colours, vinyl roof. Never went into production yet one is thought to have existed (see Sprint in Print Volume 4).

Though never went into production, plenty of boot badges were produced and parts books - often come up at autojumbles and ebay, everyone things they are worth a fortune but never are.

TS stood for "Touring Sport" (talked to an ex BL man who designed the badges - now works for Jag).

Production car designed for everyday road use.

oh, just remembered it had the Marina style gearbox and the boot panel was painted black.

would be nice to reproduce one from a two door, the only problem would be obtaining the unique nose badge (similar in style to the Dolomite 135 one - never seen one yet, other than in the parts book).

. . . . . . .well you did ask!
This would be a good project for my Toledo. It had Jod's 1500 lump in it at one time. I should have kept it in there and done the TS but I didn't know about it back then. I've been looking through the parts catalogue and not only did it have the 1500 twin-carb lump, it kept the square headlights, had the same flat dash (with the extra dials) and a vinyl roof.

cool, shame the 2 door is a donor. there's been a few reasonable 2 doors on n off the bay, mines a 4 door, but i dont think it matters too much.

my plan for the trolly would be similar to the TS, except i'm gona remake the dash from ally or carbon look stuff, add all sprint dials, modernise the interior, black grilles with inset spots, sprint wheels, lowered, fat zorst and use my spare standard sprint lump to power it, so the S can stand for sprint.

I bet the sticker man who did the SE stripes could swap the SE for TS, could do the car in silver with black 'TS' stripes and blue hue in the lacquer. that would look the dogs...
I hadn't realised it until now Kev, but there is an 18 year old lad trapped inside you trying to get out!

Go for it, will be different than most and it least it has a semi-history to fall back on.
yep... its the dormant boy racer that has been subdued for years of driving company cars, and now theres a bit more £ going in the pot, along with a bit more know-how to do a 'proper' job, i just reckon it'd be rude not to
Mr. Mash, that's mental. Gives a good idea exactly how close they were to building the thing though. Do you own that book?

Yes, I've got one of the badges too, as Alan C says, there's quite a few of both kicking around. They must have stopped it at literally the eleventh hour.
I've always thought it a very easy project for someone to try, it would look nice in Mimosa or Pimento.

Here's one for the spotters: it was going to use the black plastic hub caps from the HL Dollies/TR7, but look at the date on the book cover, over a year before they were introduced
