Engine swap number 2...
500 ..
that must be close to standard output it must have been about 350/400 + ? as it left the factory they go pretty good considering the size of the car too

i like the turbo it looks bigger than alg1k's one judging on the size of the engine it's pretty big out of the car
not many tuning bits out there for them thats the problem and of course the mpg but at least its pump gas
Re: 500 ..
The crazy thing was that they used to under-rate the engines in the cars. For example the 426 hemi in chryslers of the time would make well over 500bhp bone stock, but they still rated it at 425bhp.
Mind you, 8.2 litres gets you an awful lot of torque. Add a supercharger, and adam can probably go tractor pulling...

Great stuff Adam, glad to see it's finally getting closer to what you wanted it to be

Re: corners
Oh one more thing I've remembered about the 1850 V TR7 engine. The front timing chain cover, the marks for crank position (12 degs before - TDC - 12 degs after) On the 1850 engine its inbetween the 2 screws that hold it to the cover, On the TR7 its off centred.

Re: 1850/7
Well:

Two screws holding it on so I guess this makes it an 1850.

Not sure where this feed for a TR7 is located but this is the back of the manifold:

Which looks as the same as the engine currently installed in my car.

. . . . but then again, it could well be a short engine (reason for no engine number) that has been built up with the parts of of the original 1850 engine ?

Re: 1850/7
I'd say its an 1850 engine really. The water outlet at the back of the head is blocked off (to the left of the distributor) the timing marks are for an 1850, the carbs and manifold are 1850.

Lay it on it's side, sump off and you can measure the bores
