Just got some bitz from <!--EZCODE LINK START--><a href="http://www.xrnengineering.co.uk" target="top">XRN Engineering</a><!--EZCODE LINK END-->. Don't know if any of you out there have bought from them but I thought they were well priced. I don't think they carry much Sprint stuff though.<br>

Ok, so I haven't put the engine back in yet, but what about a running-in period after new rings, big end & main bearing renewal.<br>

How long? What max. revs? Does it need to be run-in?

Run it in for a 1000 miles, gradually building up the revs and the laod as you do so. Thi should serve you well.<br>

TR7 with two headgaskets, was a FHC in Champagne (Honeysuckle ish) and was about a 77 or 78 IIRC, can't recall much about it, but it did run nice afterwards, we tooled half way around B'ham in it on an extended test run. It was all a favour for a mate, so qualified for a Del Boy warranty....no income tax no VAT, no money back no guarantee <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :x --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/sick.gif ALT=":x"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :o --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/embarassed.gif ALT=":o"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> to think we even contemplated 'bodgin it' <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :rolleyes --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/eyes.gif ALT=":rolleyes"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END-->

Ahhh right. Not the car I know of then. I know a lady with a Green (java) TR7 that had been off the road since about 88' and she's now doing up, turned out the engine had 2 head gaskets on it...

It was probably on the CT forum Phil, but I think it referred to County rings rather than the bearings.

Just as an alternative to Malcs viewpoint. The first time my engine was built, it was 'run-in' on the rolling road, this entailed driving it at no more than 3000rpm for 15 minutes. <br>

On subsequent rebuilds, it wasn't run in at all except for the last one where I pootled around Cadwell Park for 40 miles or so.<br>
