Optimax

#1 Post by SMIFTER » Wed Dec 21, 2005 8:59 am

If like me you have a car that only runs at its best on Shell Optislurp, make the most of it while you can.
According to my local forecourt most of the country's supply went up in flames at Buncefield.
Oh sh*t...It's hard enough for me to get Optimax near me as it is, my nearest Shell garage is about 8 miles away in Clevedon. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/eyes.gif ALT=":rolleyes">

This might be of some use, it's the list of tesco sites selling 99 octane...
Have tried Esso Supreme (97 RON) a few times recently as an alternative to Optimax, and my car seems quite happy on it.

If this is true about the Optimax stock going BOOM, this just proves my earlier point about fuel all beng the same, as the former Hemel fuel dump was a Total / Fina / Elf / Texaco operaton....

I've heard that before Jod - when you consider the logistics in fuel distribution it makes a lot of sense really. I'll have to have a chat with my dad who used to drive fuel tankers for a living before he retired 7 years ago.

Anyway apart from gossip from my local forecourt bint I havent the same story anywhere else - so maybe she was talking a load of old cock!

Shell put out a public announcement out about the whole fiasco. Blamed buncefield fire and re-arranging logistics or something. I got some Optimax in Northampton yesterday but a few people are reporting shortages of ultimate, optimax etc all over the country. Definitely some truth in it.
No Optimax here at all last week. Good job I bought a bottle of Millers lead and octance treatment really, only got it so I could use my card to buy a spanner in the local factors <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">
