2.8 tdi frontera, help !?
Need to change the timing belt on my mates car, no Haines book of lies!<br>
Any body know which way the crankshaft pulley nut unscrew's?<br>
Thinking left hand thread......<br>
Needs to come off to remove timing belt cover.<br>

Why can't they fit chains to all cars!!!!?<br>

Thanks George but the pulley needed to come off to remove the whole timing belt cover.<br>
Removed the four bolts and with the bonnet removed, three large blokes on a six foot bar we persuaded the centre bolt to undo!<br>
Normal thread confused us as the direction of rotation of the engine dictated (by sound engineering practice!) a left hand thread.

I am afraid I abandoned my mate to it as I was busy Dolomiting today.<br>
From what I could see before I left was the tension needed releasing then the belt should have "simply" slid off!!!!<br>

If you haven't taken the belt off already,<br>
<br>
Cut the original belt inhalf (width way's)<br>
<br>
Slide the new belt onto the pully's etc<br>
You may need to slighty loosen the tensioner to get the belt on.<br>
But keep some tension on to keep the old belt tight.<br>
<br>
Once the new belt is on<br>
Cut the old belt completely off<br>
Then slide the new belt fully on.<br>
Tension back up Done.<br>

I also have a Autodata CD I can scan a copy of the page and send to you if that help's.<br>
