Mine weighs 8.2 kilos if that helps. Not sure where the metal was removed.
If getting it done, get it done by someone that knows how to do it... I personally find I'm very attached to my feet...

I think the way to go is to take the metal from the outer area, as the further out the mass, the more it takes to speed up/ slow down, as well as it's supporting less other metal pulling on it (and so is less likely to give way and result in bits of flywheel through car/ flesh).

Yep, lightened flywheel here. Refaced too and ready to fit, but I'm not going to post it anywhere, collect only...
A lightened flywheel is a mixed blessing and can remove all torque from the engine or push the power band up too high...
The straight sixes are particularly prone to this and some experimenters have produced some notably gutless injected 2.5 sixes....I was talking to Karl Dandrige yesterday...he had one that did nothiong below 5k rpm. Fat lot of use on a road car..especially when the long stroke six is nominally red lined at the same speed!. Given the small four's similarities I suspect the same is true. With a cast iron head and a long stroke under bearinged bottom end you dont want to be spending much time above 4k anyway...
I have a mildly lightened one on my car. I think there's about 2.5kg of metal removed. Tickover is perhaps a little less smooth but on the whole, performance seemed noticeably sharper after I fitted it.

Jon, I'd be interested in a fuller explanation for effects you described.

Have a look at Bodgerben's website, he has one & can probably shed a bit more light on what the pros & cons are.
Hmm. I'll be putting my AP Racing clutch plate in soon. Maybe I'll take my 'wheel down my local modification place and see what they suggest.

Any clutch bits that I'll need to accumulate before doing this - seeing as I'm only changing the friction plate.

Normal road use no more than a couple of pound's.<img src=

And get it rebalanced as well.

1lb of the flywheel is the same as removing 10lb off the car.

Change the complete clutch waste of time and money just doing the Friction plate<img src=
