Well the engine was built but then stripped down again as the head gasket's where the wrong one's.

It's now rebuilt less sump and timing cover,

Till I decide if I should cut a large hole in the sump or figure a way to move the steering rack forward (Using a different rack maybe even a Power Rack as the TVR came with a PAS pump).
Hopefully after that it should be plain sailing.

Update of the AJP8
Re: Update of the AJP8
I would have thought modifying the sump was the easier option, I can't imagine a Sprint really needs PAS, especially for one that is going to be used on track.
Is dry sumping an option? Easier yes to modified the sump,
But using a different rack (Escort ETC) I could get a quick rack and get the engine lower as the rack will sit in the front sump cut out.

Dry sump would of course be the best option but the most expensive.
The Race Tuscan's where all dry sumped seen one engine for sale
Didn't even bother phoning for a price.

....
You could do a DIY dry sump job. Get a few high-quality hydraulic pumps off the bay, suitable pulley, weld up your own flat sump, s'workable but involved.

I'd just hack the sump up - Bogg brothers would probably do one for a very reasonable price! Or just hack up an existing one and deepen it in the right places.

Sounds like you're getting there thought slowly but surely.

Re: ......
I'm sure a man of your ingenuity will be able to get around this Phil. I'd go with the sump modification as well. Might do you a favour really as I hear that the AJP's suffer quite badly under heavy braking so having a bespoke one made might be the order of the day.

I'm sure you love all these problems. Who gave you the wrong h/gaskets?
