Modified Discs?

#1 Post by ddu » Fri Sep 22, 2006 2:20 pm

As a purchaser, I have a few small engineering companies that dont mind doing m/cing work for me foc now and again.
One in particular do a lot of work for Radical Motorsports,
they are always modifing standard brake discs for use on these high powered cars.
Is it worth getting them to mod my sprint discs while the wheels are off, and if so, is there a recomended "pattern"
ie, grooves/holes?

Would have got more replies on the main forum Ross, seeing as you are talking Dollys.

I wouldn't bother getting the standard discs grooved or drilled. Drilling will only weaken them. If you want to mod them go for somethimg tried & tested.
'tis uncommonly quiet in these parts recently

Sorry mate, havn't a clue as I've no experience of drilling or grooves. You could try on the Piston Heads forum, modern brakes tend to be more exotic than our rusty old anchors.
thats actually one of the unused 'offices' in the bodyshop, where all my goodies are stored.

I used 'my office' ( ) to build the subframe up as it was easier on my poor aging knees and also less risk of scraping my nice fresh painted bits n bobs.

If you thin my mrs would allow that in the house, I'd seriously think again, which is why I built a 20' x 9' garage in the back garden!
dont bother drilling them as they will crack at the holes if you do track days
some nice grooves would be good though
About this many
