Convoy for fun?

#1 Post by alun n » Mon Sep 05, 2005 9:48 pm

Anyone up for a convoy for fun? Get our cars seen and noticed...

How about a circular tour somewhere scenic; say mid Wales/Marches with various rendez-vous points so folk from a greater catchment area can join in/go home as appropriate? Breakfast in Brecon,
Lunch at Rhayader, afternoon tea at Hay on Wye and overnight camping at Llantony Priory perhaps?

Have to be after the next magazine perhaps so it will reach a greater audience...run up to Christmas perhaps?

Interest or non-starter?

I'm up for it in principle Alan, just so long as it doesn't clash with the NEC (4th - 6th November) <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

I'd be up for it if I can find a 7 seater Dolomite.

Or, maybe I should buy 1 more, she can drive one with two kids and I'll drive the other one with 2 more in!

Splendid idea
Sounds like fun - if the date's fit, I'll get up at 4.30 again one weekend!

Sounds like a good crack, as with everyone else depends on the date.

Sounds like a laugh. I don't need a 7 seater, but we could still come in two cars just to add to the convoy. We got a few looks when we picked up the 1850 as I drove it home with Debra following in the sprint. Alternatively Scott, I could lend you one if you like. Of course Alun would need 7 adults in his family, all with driving licences!
Hmm...interesting thought David, but I'd certainly need the fastest one if they were all to be in the same place at the same time!!<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">
Anyway, Susie is the only one that takes an interest in Sprints (a marvellous birthday present from her was a home assembled 3d framed picture of a Sprint!) but having seen the state of her Micra it will be a long time before she drives a car of mine!

I'd have thought we could probably manage quarterly...especially if the regions take on the mantle and organise the different events. I'd suggest we need someone who knows the manor for each area to ensure it is varied and having good points of interest for the stops. I wouldn't envisage attending all, but equally not all would attend this one.

I suggested Wales/Marches because I am fairly familiar with the area and with Staffs and Oxon groups nearby I don't want to remove their own opprtunities for their own areas. I also thought the S West and S Wales folk might take an interest too...

Breakfast in Brecon sounds good to me, say 9.00am, would have to leave my house around 8.45am <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">

I'll be up for it.
