Also how early is this one:
YDP is back on the road after the Blairite regulation fest of a vehicle identity check.
...to hear you are back on the road John. Did BK do the repairs for you in the end; do you want to report?

What did the ID check involve and who did it and where?

Ball joints through club are £45 each delivered, so £60 for a pair isn't too bad...yet...!

The 1850 was first regd 01 Feb '72; real early ones are on a 'J' plate, but its certainly tax free. Be interested to find the chassis number...

Alun - More details about the VIC and BKT are elsewhere (general posts).

Just to add that what they do in a VIC is secret and you cannot watch. They can do almost anything - even remove paint, parts, fittings.... It is all a bit cloak and dagger and done out of sight of the owner. It takes about 30 mins. I had it done at Guildford. Others near London are Watford, Edmonton, Maidstone and Mitcham (I think). Some information is available on the VOSA site.

My advice is to try to avoid needing a VIC - that way you can keep clear of yet more regulations!
Actually I have put a longer post in the main Dolomite related section - not the "General" one.
