Funky Early Dials
It has the funky early Speedo and Tacho, did these dials make it into any Sprints or had they been revised by mid '73?
Re: Never seen
All tax exempt 1850's I've seen have them (so, all 3 then <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> )

I'm guessing not many, if any Sprints ever had those gauges, unless retrofitted for purely astethic reasons.

Not fitted to Sprints as standard.

Early Dials
6 Hasn't got a panel lighting rheostat or night dimming, which I find a little strange.
When did seat belt waring lights arrive, was it with the series two cars from '76?
Maybe...
Dollies went thru a few iterations...
1....very early....nice clocks, strombergs, 3 rail box
centre interior light, old style wiring loom, panel rehostat, afterthought hrw switch, rubbish seat belts with centre twin box, nice spring back grab handles. Triumph Badge on front panel, nos side trim, chrome cill trim. Nicer rear number plate light on bumper. Longer ruber front overriders conected to car at bottom
Later came side interior light and decent stalk type belts.

2...from about late 73 on they switched to SU carbs, peripheral vision instruments, later wiring conectors and the hrw switch replaced the rheostat. Cheaper grab handles also came in here I think but not sure...

3...from about 75 on they got the single rail box and the side chrome trims, slightly better SU's with waxstsats and hair springs for throttle return and the last wiring variation. I think they also got bigger inlet valves like the TR7 and the head lost its side water vent, which may have had a funtion on the SAAB 99 but Ive never seen what its for on a dolly. El cheapo number plate lights and small overriders.
The ohv cars (1500TC and Toldeo) were then misnamed dolomites.
So the Sprint would have slotted in with these variations and probably changed badges at the same points.

They also later on lost the cill trim.

Snore...
Anorak back in cupboard.
Alun will correct me where I'm wrong...
Re: Maybe...
Richards 1975 N reg car has the same style dials as my car (77 1850HL) but the KMH's are in purple!

His car also has the eary leather grab handles

Longer rubber front under riders

No chrome stips on the door but one on the cill

Triumph badge just in front of the bonnet

Dolomite badge on the back (not 1850)

Old style number plate light

and has the 3 rail box.

1975 was the last year for TRIUMPH Triumphs not BL as they were from then on. Hence no marina box and no BL logo on rear Triumph badge

See I have learnt something <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">

Good one...
I stand corrected on the grab handles...but the later dials are the peripheral vision ones as I should have made clear.
So his is a phase 2 car then...I should have said late 75,
for the changeover which I think is P reg.
I've actually never had one of these cars...only the early stromberg type and R reg or later 1850 badged single rail ones. Shame...I'd like to have had the full set.
Do his SU's have external return springs?

The single rail box may have been used in the Marona but please DONT call it a Marina box. Its a Triumph design with many common parts with the 3 railer...

Er and sorry...even my early 72 one has a BL badge on the wing!
