That is a blast from the past! It's got my old Spax shox on it as well by the looks of it. They were completely seized when they came off my old shell!<br>

I tend to assume if something isn't clearly new or nearly new then it's knackered. That way if I'm wrong it's a pleasant surprise rather than being disappointed if I assumed opposite. However, if the past life of a component is known its life expectancy can be reasonably estimated.<br>
<br>
So guys, what is the history of this lot? How worn is that cam, how old are those shocks (miles and years), how far has the block been bored and thrashed etc etc?<br>
<br>
'Power reduction kit' is the under bonnet air filters that pull in warm and therefore less dense air. The original filter is pretty unrestrictive because of its large area, coupled with cold air intake pipes you've got a good setup. K&N insert for the original air box is an improvement over standard, pancakes are a fashion accessory and a backward step IMHO.<br>

Sprint
The seller has been a mate of mine since school (a very long time ago <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START ;) --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=";)"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> ). He was building this car to keep and was even booked to do the Round Britain Run this October. Unfortunately, due to recent changes in personal circumstances, he's had to withdraw and now is forced to sell the car also. Wouldn't it be a shame if some of the above comments affected his chances of selling it or getting a reasonable price for it.

I'm hoping to have a look on Sunday and am also the high bidder at the moment. If all is as described then I'll be happy. I've seen too many sprints forsale, described as good condition, but were in fact complete sheds. Shocks can be easily replaced but a solid shell is harder to sort. Anybody Know where I could get the roof done?<br>

surely if your friend wanted to get a reasonable price for the car a few of the jobs could be done to max his return,surely the new starter in the boot could be fitted (It's not a big job) and points are a doddle to fit,at least if the car was running potential buyers can at least have the knowledge the car actually runs,the car looks very nice from the photo's and am sure if those jobs where done you could expect a much better return,the spring rates are the same as on my sprint (standard height) and where bought from sprint spares some years ago they where reccomended as a good rate for a road car by jamie (of sprint spares).

Carl, if I've said anthing that's inaccurate then let me know. I gave him some bits with the car and the shocks look just like my old ones. They are at least 12 years old based on the receipts I have and the adjuster was seized when I passed them on.<br>

As I've said, I hope he gets good money for it. I reckon its worth at least £800 based on the pics. With an MOT it might have been worth nearly double that.<br>

He's been completely honest about the re-shell. The guy who owned the car (DRM28T) before myself and Martin got hold of it was very knowledgeable. He had purchased the ST vented disc kit and loads of other bits. I would imagine that the engine is fairly sound and the cam probably only a few thousand miles on it.<br>
<br>
Pass on my regards and like I said, I hope he gets some reward for his efforts.<br>

I've always had a lot of time for your opinions about 'our' cars. I think that your comments are made with the best of intentions. I just think that sometimes they might not be interpreted in the right way. This is the Triumph Dolomite Club discussion forum. Any comments made here reflect on the club. I'm just keen to see 'us' as the place to be if you have a Triumph small saloon car (non-chassis based of course). Let's 'out' the people who are breaking good cars needlessly or are selling crap parts but also present ourselves as the place to be if someone new to the scene buys, or is considering buying, one of 'our' cars. Someone was recently joking about buyers on ebay withdrawing their bids based on comments made here. I think that this is something we should all keep in mind. <br>
