You normally have to lower compression ratios, fit Forged pistons for a supercharger I believe. Don't know this particular type but 30-40bhp would probably be about right. More torque across the range I would think.
Tempting...

But... (there's always a but, isn't there)

I've just wasted a vast quantity of money on this ridiculous vehicle.

Picked it up last night (or tried to)... It was 140 miles away... Got 100 miles down the road, and the fan belt snapped. Very, very, very slow. Rang 'er indoors at 3am to say "err, how do you fancy an hour's drive to pick me up?". Amazingly, given her utter dismay at my purchasing a fifth vehicle, she came to pick me up. I got home at 5am. Work today's amusing!

Why, oh why do I do it... At least my last unseen ebay motor (the V8 ) managed to do 7000 miles before letting me down...
What a great car !
It's good to see it's not just another VW Splitscreen Camper.
The Commer certainly is much better value.
Incredibly cool? Yes.
Incredibly slow? Yes. (We're talking 55mph flat out)
Incredibly good at winding up the Mrs? Yes!

If the dolly's not fixed in time, I'll be taking the van to the TDC meet next weekend.

Yeah - much more spacious than a veedub, actually sleeps 5 (not 3 as per the listing), and is just as retro-cool as a splittie, but without the cult following. Great for me - if this were a split screen it'd be worth ten times what I paid!

Quote:
Stick a V8 in it

Yeah, that would go very nicely, but to be honest, it's petrifying going in a straight line at 55... not sure I'd really like to go much faster! (The steering redefines the term "vague"!)

The track is wider at the back than at the front of the van (wierd I know). This causes interesting tramlining in the slow lane on the motorway.
Can I pre-order a bacon butty then with brown sauce!

Only joking, very good to see something different and almost a colour match for the V8!
It's more the noise that stops you getting to 60 - at 55 it's truly deafening!
Got myself my (first ever) free tax disc today. Tremendously satisfying!
Four cars and a camper isn't too many is it?
