I know this car and it isn't. Last time I looked at it with a view to buying the OSF wing was loose and ready to go back on, otherwise all welding that side is done (well). The NS needs the usual suspects attended to but they are not bad. I helped him get it running, blimey, must be a year ago now. It wasn't at all difficult and sounded ok. The exhaust was a distant memory. That red primer he's been using as he went is the mutts nuts BTW. none of the work was showing the first hint of deteriorating.

He's a very nice 2000 and Vitesse taking all his money and time.
If members feel that an "Ebay Hall of Shame" is required on here to name Ebayers who regularly break otherwise restorable cars, I'll happily provide one. Of course the named users will have the right to reply and to tell us why they believe it's a good thing to buy up cars and break them for profit....comments?
good idea but could cause problems accusing someone we dont know to be a breaker... but what the hell its still a free country and it wont be me being sued for libel, go for it
I could always find space for one more if it saved a worthwhile car/project being broken. Trailers - I have to hire them, any space big enough for a trailer has a dolly on it!

A name and shame may be a bit controversial, but I like it. That said, would they visit our forum anyway (maybe they would take a gander at the save a dolly ads...it doesn't bear thinking about)
I have also seen this Sprint Well from the road anyway.

It's been replaced with a Triumph 2000 on the drive?,

I'm keeping a eye on it to as it's Local to where I lived and I found somewhere to store it is well if I should win it again Local.

Mind you I'll be bidding at the end as long as it doesn't go over the price I want to pay before hand.
Hall Of Shame

#13 Post by dollyboy » Thu Aug 31, 2006 11:42 pm

how could you be sued for creating a forum, while maybe a bit controversial, on an enthusiast specific (while public)message board, where the accused have an equal opporunity to state their case/justify their actions/make an argument for why they do it???

thats not really libel me thinks, just a platform to plonk these numpties on for the benefit and interest of club members to make an informed choice of who to and who not to buy parts from.

in fact, I'd say DO IT ANYWAY, and someone should also take it upon themselves to point these breaker guys to the board so the breakers themselves can actually see what people think of them.

I could be that guy... <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/mad.gif ALT=">:">

the counter argument, as raised before is that whether we like it or not, we all need parts for our cars. not all parts are available currently, and not all parts have been remade, so there is a need for these people to exist - they offer parts and people buy them, and while we're not all in a privaleged position like Alun to have a stash of parts thats probably big enough to build a few cars from, this is and will probably always be the way of things.

I dont like to see good cars get broken, my SE is in the process of proving that, but its supply and demand guys, not particularly scientific is it?!

Right, how about we have a section dedicated to people who 'seem to buy alot of cars which then end up in bits'.

We put down their ebay id with a link to what they have bought, we then put a link in showing the kind of parts they then end up selling 'due to an unfinished restoration project'.

You and I know what we are talking about, no need to publicly verbally castrate them or slag them off. The Links will speak for themselves while they are live.

I'm cool with that - I have bought a lt but sold them on whole - or still have and drive them so I am feeling in the clear.

I took a second opinion on the only one I broke and anyone is welcome to view my spares car - or have it for what I paid if they want to restore a crash damaged motor......

I still think wantonly breaking good cars is wrong. Name and shame if you like....
