Standard Size Sprint Tyre ??
Standard Size Sprint Tyre ??
An easy question, one I can't answer since my manuals are at the garage with the car...

What is the "standard" size tyre for the Sprint Alloy Wheels? After all the work i've put into the suspension, I want to put a new set of good quality tyres on. When I reach the top of a 14,000 foot mountain, headed down, I want good rubber on the wheels! Thanks....
175 70 r13 is the standard

But you can use 185 60/65/70* r13s

Rich has got the 185 70s and they fit the arches nicer than my 175 70s, there made out of solid plastic and have the grip capabilities of sheet metal but thats beside the point

Re: Standard Size Sprint Tyre ??
If you use 185/70s with std. suspension & have any passengers in the back or loaded the boot, the tyres will touch the inside lip of the rear arches.

Hmmm I've heard a noise from the back of Richards car when hitting bumps. A kinda wooshing noise that I though was a leaking shock... I'll have a look tommorow...

His car is about 2 inches higher than mine at the back, when empty the top of his tyres are about 2 inches away from the arches and mine are about 1/2 and inch! Maybe something to do with one leaking shock and filling the car full of engines

Re: Tyre size
The original spec was just 'R', no other prefix. The prefixes are for vehicles that undertake SUSTAINED speeds up to those as per the speed chart.

When they were new...
The Sprint was rated as having a top speed in excess of the 113 mph allowed for R (or SR in old money) rated tyres.
The original fit would therefore have been HR rated.
Anyone with an orignal low mileage example could have a look at the unused spare...of course the likes of Alun and I wouldnt have such a thing...we drive them.
Thanks...
Thanks everyone for your responses. Tires will follow soon, more importantly the Sprint is back and running great. All of the alignment problems were sorted. Part of the problems were caused by the steering column bushing, which they said was "non-existent" when they went to replace it. I took her out for a drive last night, and can't beleive how nice and tight the steering is. Just a little squeek in the steering because of the new bushing. (Can I spray anything to help eliminate the squeak, or will that go away as it works in)?
Thanks again for all your help and suggestions over the past few weeks.
Re: Thanks...
That squeak won't go away! Had that problem when I done mine, I had a grease gun with a thin end and quirted plenty of the stuff in it. Sorted

Re: Tyre size
Use special rubber or nylon lube, ordinary LM grease will deteriorate the bush
