Help please! My sprint isn't sprinting.

I have a 73 sprint which is slower than my 1300 polo! <br>
The compressions are 160psi on every cylinder. The valve clearances have been put right to 18thou, although its still seems rattly. It has had new jets and needles in the carbs, new points and a distributer overhaul and been set up with the mixtures/timing correct at idle. I'm running out of ideas now. <br>
I read that a sports exhaust kills an 1850 unless the fuel curve is changed to suit. My sprint has a loud stainless system on. Could this be the cause of my power loss? <br>
Any help is greatly appreciated.
