ignition timing?

Hello everyone
Just fitted a magnatronic ignition system today and replaced plugs(unipart ones)
All went well and I was pretty proud of myself (not being the mechanical type)
BUT - the engine revs are now higher at idle. Used to be about 800-900 now 1200. Is this to be expected after fitting the new ignition and do I now need to adjust the timing?
The car runs well though.

And for those that answered my last question about the fuel hose replacement, thanks. Replacing that went well too. Replaced all pieces around the carbs. They weren't that bad when I got them off but a bit of planned preventative maintainence never hurt anyone, so they say. I replaced them with some that I bought from Halfords made by Goodyear.
