I refurbed by fuel tank a year or so ago and ever since have suffered from muck in the fuel lines. I fitted a cheapy filter between the line and the fuel pump cos it's easier than taking the pump apart all the time. I have been doing a bit of driving recently and when accelerating to cruise it will be fine then a 1/4 mile or so will start to splutter a bit. Having checked the fuel filter it seems to be OK so can only assume that the fuel line has got some muck in it further down thus redicung the flow of fuel. I have in the past used a foot pump to blow the fuel line throgh but the problem persists. Has anyone ever come accross a fuel line cleaner product that works or would I be better off just removing the tank again, flushing it out and blowing the line through until it is clear. I have also thought it might be a sticky needle valve in the float chamber causing overflow but it is difficult to see whether it is overflowing when running along!
Incidentially the fuel tank restorer product in question was the POR-15 kit from Frosts so would be interested to know if anyone else has had similar experiences with it.
Re: C**P in fuel lines?
Are you sure the fuel pump is up to the job, had very similar symptoms to this on the 1300 fwd, it transpired that the diaphragm had a pin hole in it, which only presented itself as a sump full of petrol.

pump
The pump was replaced recently as the old sealed type was full of muck. Seems to be pumping well with no sighns of holes in the diapragm.
