Wetter Water??

#1 Post by adchesney » Tue Apr 06, 2004 7:51 pm

Dear Folks<br>
<br>
In the never ending conquest for performance and cooling, I wonder if anyone has tried this?<br>
<br>
<!--EZCODE LINK START--><a href="http://www.trackstore.co.uk/redline.html" target="top">www.trackstore.co.uk/redline.html</a><!--EZCODE LINK END--><br>
<br>
Finally, I need to buy a Trolley Jack (high lift) anyone got recommendations - I found one at Screwfix for £150 - not too sure if this is good/bad?<br>
<br>
Regards<br>
ANDREW

Watter Wetter - in the USA

#3 Post by harryrc » Tue Apr 06, 2004 8:07 pm

I have used this product in my Sprint here in the USA. After I upgraded my radiator to a "3 row" version, I still needed additional cooling (since I run at about 7,000 feet above sea level). I put about 1/3 to 1/2 bottle in the rad, and it lowered temp by about 8 - 12 degrees if I remember correctly. What price do you have to pay for it in the UK? I also use it in my "modern cars" as a matter of habit. So, even if it is expensive, one bottle will do several sytem refills.

More on Water Wetter

One more thing...the amount of cooling you get is dependent on the ratio of antifreeze, water, and water wetter that you use. There are charts on the side of the bottle. I got 8-12 degrees because of the amount of anti-freeze I chose to use.

Thanks<br>
<br>
I cooler running car has got to be better so an 8 -12 degree reduction during summertime has got to be a good insurance.<br>
<br>
I would imagine it is best to run without antifreeze as antifreeze does not cool as well as H2O!!<br>
<br>
I think I will try some of this - I would not mide getting a proper temp gauge to test the results.<br>

<br>
P.S Any ideas on the Trolley Jack??

its not advisable to run your car without anti freeze.<br>
<br>
a) a sudden frost may catch you out before you think winter is upon us<br>
<br>
b) using anti freeze inhibits corrosion which was a mistake many cars suffered early on

I've used Radiator Relief from Agrimech and it works fine -bit pricy though, around £23 for a bottle.

Water wetter

#10 Post by Maurice » Wed Apr 07, 2004 2:33 pm

I have a 355ml bottle of water wetter, once I have flushed my cooling system, I intend to refill using Water Wetter.<br>
The instructions say to use 1 ounce of Water Wetter per quart of water with less than 50% antifreeze.<br>
<br>
1. How many quarts would it take to refill a sprints cooling system?<br>
<br>
2.What is the conversion from quarts to litres?<br>
<br>
3.What is the best ratio of antifreeze to water to use in a Sprint.<br>
<br>
The label proclaims <!--EZCODE BOLD START--><strong>can reduce coolant and head temperature by as much as 20 degrees</strong><!--EZCODE BOLD END--> <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :eek --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ns/eek.gif ALT=":eek"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> <br>

more on water wetter

All I can say is that it works. However, as others have said watch the ratio of water to coolant. You will find that to reach the 20 degree level, there is probably a very low ratio of coolant to water. I run about 50/50, and still was able to reduce 8-12 degrees. I verified the before and after variance by using one of those hand held laser thermometers. If it wasn't so expensive to ship....I would send some over. I think I get it for about $6 usd per bottle.

50/50 antifreeze is about as far as you should dilute it IMO. It starts having a serious effect on its specific heat capacity if you go OTT.<br>
<br>
Personally I run about 30% mix.
