Sill Work HELP!

#1 Post by MWU773V » Mon Mar 22, 2004 6:55 pm

Am looking to get some Sill work done on my Sprint. One side (OS) has already been done prior to be getting the car but now the NS needs doing. Looks as if the other side has a had a full sill put on. This is where the problem starts. Ideally I want to get a full sill done on the other side and I realise that it isn't gonna be super cheap which is no problem.

The main problem I have is actually trying to find somone reaonably locally to do the work. I live in Stoke on Trent and the car does run fine but has no tax or MOT so I can't drive it to wherever it gets done.

Does anyone have any experience of any garages locally ideally Triumph specialists who could carry out such work?

I would be really grateful for any advice or suggestions on the matter. Then I can get the car MOT'd and ready for the new season!
Can't really assist with a company but i got quotes last year and these were £1000 - £1200 and this was supplying inner and outer sills myself.
Ended up doing it myself and pleased with the results although final paint needs sorting.
Not a weekends work by any means though and if the sills have gone also prepare for hidden horrors once dismantled like inner archs at the bottom.
You will always find at least 3 times as much work is required as you first think, just had the cills done on my Sprint and work was also required to the inner front arch, A post and front scuttle panel. If you cant do it yourself I think you are better trying to find a local independent guy who is sympathetic to older cars, most of the larger body shops are not interested as there is usually too much involved and not enough quick profit. When you do find someone, treasure him, as they are like gold dust. Best place to look is small industrial units, I know of a couple but they are darn sarf...
lucky in that the car has had most of the work already done and done to a high standard it's just weird how the one sill wasn't done when the other £4k's worth of work was done. If I come accross a good place I'll post a message as I'm sure i'm not the only one looking for sill work!
