Sprint front suspension - repaint

Hi,<br>
Has anyone had ther front subframe, upper wishbone, lower wishbone, roll- bar etc shot blasted + repainted in black?<br>
What shade of black do i use?<br>
Satin / gloss / matt?

best suggestion that anyone will make on here - powder coat it. the lot. sub-frame, tie rods, anti roll bar, blah blah. Probably the most effective way to get nice, semi glossy, shiny finish that is tough and long lasting.<br>

I'd suggest poly bushes too, while you'e got it all in bits. The way forward... oh yes.<br>

I'd go with satin Black.. i use Hammerite smooth spray, virtually everywhere.. goes on a treat,though it does chip if abused.

You could probably get the whole lot powder coated with change out of £150. <br>

with all the hammerite bashing thats gone on in the past on here, i'm scared to mention the H word. <br>

personally I dont think theres anything wrong with the stuff, on inanimate items that dont bend, flex, vibrate etc etc. it goes brittle, and is prone to chipping/cracking. the spray is the same stuff as in the tin, just air-bourne, so is easy to put on. I've used both. I have tried hammerite spray on inside of wheels on top of etching primer. hammerite aluminium primer mind you. it dried, cracked, crazed, drove me insane, it all got sanded back and brush painted.<br>

im desparately trying not to be mean, reg, but kevs advice, only use the stuff on solid surface that isnt going to bend at all, and where its not exposed to stuff thats likely to chip it.<br>

I did my suspension on a budget of student proportions, hours with wire brush in angle grinder and smoothrite. My car has done only 17000 miles in the 10 years since and lived in a garage about 1/3 to 1/2 that time and it's ready for doing again.<br>

That refers to the quiz Alun ran at TDCIR. Will it be possible to find another 40 obscure items for next year? Dunno. Of course, given that you havn't seen the answers yet if you pop along to Aluns before the next Dolly Mixture hits your doormat I expect you could have a go....<br>

Wll there used to be nothing wrong with it and have used it for years. However the last 3 cans have all had terrible nozzles, blocking really easily. Concerned that my £8 can would be wasted I phoned ICI up and moaned. They said there was no change to the paint or nozzles and couldn't help. They did however send me 6 nozzles so when they get blocked I can at least use a fresh one. <br>
<br>
Personally I prefer powder coating, it's so shiny and pure!
