Vinyl trim paint

#1 Post by slant04 » Tue Aug 15, 2006 12:35 pm

I used some in the late eighties, I think it was called vinylhide and it was very good. Scoured the internet and come up with a few options, including good old wollies (thrim people not Woolworths!) anyone have any expirence or reccomendations, or even some good tan seats. doesnt matter which model and long as good old bum burning vinyl!

I've used this:

on my Trans Am in the past.

After:

Don't confuse it with the cheap rubbish from Halfords which gives a nasty, glossy finish. Definitely worth using the two prep chemicals (Plasticprep and Plastikleen) first for best results.

It even turned a right hand door card in to a left hand one!!!!
Looks pretty good actually. I tried some of the foliatec stuff you get from halfords and such places, looks dreadful. I believe frost will actually colour mix that stuff for you aswell.

LOL yes, it's magic stuff!

Not so easy to see from this pic, but the dash pad was done with the Halfords stuff - it's really a poor finish in comparison:
