I have got the bottom end of my Toledo 1300 in bits to replace the bearings but I and having problems trying to get the correct replacement.

My Toledo parts catalogue shows the Main as 149082 and the Big Ends as 149081, but these parts numbers seem to cross reference to a 6 cylinder engine?

Am I correct in assuming that the Toledo/1300/1500 Dolomites and the latter Spitfire all have the same bearings i.e. Mains RTC1753 and Big End RTC1754?

Any help would be welcome.

Toledo Bottom End
Shelled
The later 1300 engines had the same bottom end as the Spit 1500, Dolly 1500, 1500TC - It's only the Herald, Spit 1300 and 1300fwd that had the other type (Herald prefix GE, GK was late 1300).

I could be wrong, but I think the reason they cross reference with the 6 cyl cars is because it was deemed in someone's infinite (infinitely poor, IMO) wisdom costs could be cut if the 4 and 6 cyl OHV engines shared as much as possible, including bearings.

When you order the new shells, Canley are good for making sure you're getting the right part, and the Toledo's the same engine as the Dolly 1300.

If you find a damned good price, let me know, I want to do the bottom end on a Dolly 1300 lump before I put it in the autgo! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

bearings
My Dolomite catalogue ('76 on) gives mains as rtc1753 and bigends as rtc1754. When I replaced the bigend bearings on my 1500 Dolly I went to Cardinal Triumph (sadly no more) and they didn't have any for a 4 cylinder engine so they raided a box for a 6 cylinder engine so the cross referencing works in practice too! Maybe one size does fit all..............

Toledo Bottom End
Thanks for your reply.

I think you are right, the Toledo engine DG25000 -> used the same bearings as the 6 cylinder engines but were then given their own part numbers latter when the Dolomites came along.

Moss seem to have the best price on bearings (they actualy supply Rimmers) and I can get the sets off the shelf from my local shop.
