water pump - sprint

Do I replace<br>
Do I refurb<br>
Do I leave it and hope for the best.<br>

I'm about to drop the engine back in not sure what to dthero about the pump. When it came out it left it's cage behind, all back together and cleaned - no play etc.<br>

Rather short of cash having given too much of it to rimmers.<br>

1. Check the u/s impellar has a flat mating surface<br>

2. For the sake of the cost of a repair kit......use one! About £20 from Fitchetts

ist a right PITA to cure the leak after youve got it running. If its all out fit a new repair kit. Robsport are an alternative supplier and your local machine shop should be able to flatten the underside of the impellor if its scored. New bearing and its good as new...almost.<br>

Pump Tool

The pump came out of the old block just by turing it with a spanner - Now i've put it in the new block and got cold feet I can bet that it will not come out - any one have the tool - robbers want nearly 40 quid!

I have an easily made homemade tool comprising a large washer with three holes and an exhaust clamp which does the job, but if it came out once easily without further use it should do so again. Suck it and see....<br>

Er...that reads badly and I can't think how to rewrite it without similar innuendo!

Robsport do a recon for £45 quid - have just ordered one, will report on quality.<br>

£45 + VAT + 30 exchange<br>
Ordered on Tuesday, arrived Wednesday, Installed Wednesday evening and old unit postedon Thursday.<br>

Pretty good service from robsport and at £45 quid pretty good value I reckon.<br>

Very reasonable compared to the asking price for new ones. Never heard a bad word said against these guys.....<br>

Not a bad rate, £25, for fitting a £20 repair kit (that they get at cost!) either though......
