Jackshaft wear

Early Sprint with 170,000 miles on the block.

Removed the jackshaft yesterday. I am between houses as it were, so do not have access to all my manuals. Can anyone advise as to what degree of wear is allowable on the jackshaft?

Can't find any published 'data' in the workshop manual, but I guess the answer is not a lot!

Much wear on the drives will see a short lived WP or dizzy drive, much wear on the bearing surfaces will see the shaft moving and wiping out the dizzy & wp drives that way.

(Rather than the bearing surfaces wearing I believe the holes in the block tend to elongate; but same result in the end)

I have a couple of good s/h ones knocking around if you want to be cautious......

Thanks guys. End float ok. The "worst" wear is on the disi gear. Thanks for the offer of used one but have access to the infamous "folly" cellars which will be more than adequate in the jackshaft dept.
Hi Len, Thanks for asking. "GJ" has moved house but has seen little progress over the last 12 months...until recently. All that is required internally is the parcel shelf, front seats, nsf door trim/capping and radio to be fitted. Boot trim (all new!) to be fitted together with all exterior brightwork. Engine is TOTALLY stripped and all new parts acquired for the rebuild to standard spec - except for balancing. All said I hope that GJ will be see the road this year for the first time since the early 80's. I plan to be at the annual meeting and Triumph picnic at the very least. Hope to see you at one or the other.
