Re: oops
There is a previous thread on the 135. Briefly it was the original name for the Sprint but because the engines could not deliver a constant 135bhp is was changed to Sprint.

135
None were actually sold as 135s, the badges became available afterwards and personalisation occured. Home made badge engineering if you like. SNG Barrett used to have boxes full of them but now they are Jag only they seem to have "forgotten" all things Triumph!

Now if someone finds a "Swift" badge that would be a true rarity!!

135 boot badge
A guy was selling one of these at Cosford. He wanted £30 for it but it was nowhere near as good condition as the one on ebay.

8bp
Here's a thought - where does the extra 8 (supposedly) unreliable horsepower come from to make 135bhp from 127bhp??
Re: 8bp
It probably isn't extra BHP as such, more that the variations in production engine spec meant that 127 BHP was a truer typical output.

I would hazard a guess that a properly built Sprint engine with everything at optimum tolerances (...blueprinted) would easily make 135 BHP with good reliability. I would guess that even with a warm camshaft and big carbs (170ish BHP) it could still be reliable, if a little lumpy round town.
Extra 8hp
Dunno about an extra 8, how about an extra 47!
Reading 'The Works Triumphs' the Group 1 cars - Standard carbs, cam etc. were making 174 bhp, with a rev limit of 8200!
Oh yeah...<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ohwell.gif ALT=":">
You can relatively easily match the inlet manifold to the inlet ports, and make sure the inlet ports have no obstructions. Also the su's can be modified (being about the only carb than can) - getting 8 bhp, or even 20 bhp, may be possible.
Also bear in mind that this was 'new', new cam, followers, dizzy, carbs manifold etc. You can easily loose 10bhp from having a duff set of dizzy springs!
8200
I doubt that somehow with a std cam.
I also heard that Sprint engines have to be seriously well balanced to get much past 6500 with any safety.
