Have I got the oldest 1300fwd
Do I have the oldest surviving 1300fwd? (the car that eventually became the Dolomite) Mine was registered on April 1st 1966 (no April Fool!) and is VIN No. RD4448. I've not come across any that are older. I'm the 4th owner and I rescued this car from in front of the previous owner's home in Huddersfield where it had been standing since it failed the MoT in 1999. The last tax disc is dated 1998! It has 61,000 miles which is believed to be genuine and has dealer service history up to 1974.

Any older 1300s out there?
Re: 1300s
It just so happens that mine's also green (could be the same colour...)

Where is our Triumph 1300 Registrar when you need him? You just can't get the staff these days...<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol">
Pooey
Trust me, brown, with one side olive green up to the waistline, has to be the worst colour!

I quite like the green I saw in the pics of Toledoman's (btw, been very busy for all sorts of reasons, your cluctch cylinder will be sent by Monday, when I get to the garage in daylight <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /frown.gif ALT=":("> ). Odd, because I don;t normally go a bundle for green, but it seems to suit the car.

Mine's valencia blue, still trying to make my mind up. I like it, but I'm not sure I really like it yet.

I don't like white on a Triumph though. I've got a white TC and a carmine one, and the carmine one really looks alot better, darker colours really flatter the lines, IMO.

Valencia blue is gorgeous....i used to have a 2.5pi estate in that color...i think all Triumphs should of had that as a choice...one day it looked green, the next day blue.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":p">

Green
I was sure Toledoman's was a mid green with red interior... Very different to my blue one ww ...

I've got a beige (tan?) interior.. Rather have black <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /frown.gif ALT=":(">

My brown 1300 had a tan interior too... Either it was a very common choice, or I've just been unlucky...

Re: 1300s
Mine is DEFINTELY green and it has a red interior. (carpets have seen better days!) The engine runs as sweet as a nut (for a 1966 car!) I bought a new exhaust from Rimmer's and I bought a carb off eBay for £10! Sills need replacing (aren't they the same as the Dolly?) and the inner wing on the drivers' side needs replacing. There'll be probably be more bodywork to do but that's what I've found so far...

Parts
I think the sills are the same as Dolomite ones, certainly the doors are, apart from the drillings for the latches etc.

When it comes to exhausts, I've not needed one yet, but Bill Davies who runs Rarebits4classics (mainly Herald and Spit rubbers and trim) mailed me a year or more ago saying he had some 1300fwd systems kicking around, talked about 30 odd quid each as they weren't his main line of business! Don't know if he's still got them though..

Even the engine on my old 1300 was smooth as anything until it got to about 50mph.. And my current one sounds very smooth too, apart from one worrying noise that I'm hoping is tappet... Although the previous owner reckoned he'd happily do 100 mile plus journies in it, so it's either been overlooked and is knackered, or a good one!

I like the green on your car, although I've only seen the pics of it in the dark <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

Re: Parts
You obviously haven't seen my daylight pic of the 1300fwd (the one taken from behind with my Toledo in the background to the left) it's on one of my posts on another Triumph forum (I won't mention any names!)

I'll e-mail you the pic and you'll be able to see for yourself.
Green
It is the finest green, as Lord Percy would say... <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

Actually, it looks pretty good! Better than my old brown one. Carpet's a bit rough here and there by the looks of it, but overall, not bad at all <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

Red works much better than tan inside in my opinion too..
