Re: Ever helpful Copart!

Some pretty extreme prices being asked, or maybe I'm out of date?

Re: Sprint Engine adaptor plate

Were both the 35 and 65 auto boxes fitted to the sprint? What I mean is does the sprint autobox have a removable bellhousing?

Re: Advice

The best way is to look on ebay and see what things sell for - if at all! Prices are far higher than they were a few years ago, as there are fewer left, however there are also potentially less people in need of them too.
Looking at the new price - if available, sometimes helps too.

Re: Rear disc brakes

Not cheap, and I am unsure what other parts you need to make it fit, nor if you end up with a handbrake but these appear to be made to order if required?

Re: rallying Toledo

I would try to contact : uphill racer - sorry I don't know how to do a link on here, but look for his profile on here. I believe he was in contact with Del when he built the 2dr that Dolly-Nut now has.

Re: Is there any triumph Toledo car meets near bristol

Yes, we still meet on the 1st Thursday at the civil Service Club, Filton Avenue.
It is combined with various other Triumph Clubs so usually, 2000s, and TR7s too.

I have a Toledo in Bath, and Brother has a Toledo in Hanham, but both are not on the road at the moment.

The head re-torque saw the 'head gasket' issue on Clive's 1850 go away again. Fingers crossed for you!

1500TC standard or modified?

I recently acquired a 1500TC which is more of a parts car than a viable rebuild project, but there are a few things that I think are not standard: 1. It has a single rail non overdrive gearbox. My last 1500TC and the one I can see detail for on the internet have a 3 rail box. It claims to be a May 7...

Re: Engine swaps Triumph Dolomite with MGA engine

This car was on ebay a few years ago. Was listed as 1972 then, but got pulled early if I remember. Always wondered what happened to it as memorable with MG engine. Listing never showed any under bonnet photos

Re: 5 3/4" headlights, non Dolomite

Is that e34 (5 series) BMW? I had to replace mine a few years ago as one lens cracked due to a stone chip.. they look familiar as they were an absolute pig to extract and to re-use!

Re: 4 speed automatic....

That is a very good point :D If the dolomite sprint gearbox is the same as a 2000 gearbox, then if I use the manual sprint adaptor then the big saloon BM35 bell housing might fit. I think I have a BW35 for a saloon on its way to me, so we'll soon see!
Thank you.

Re: 4 speed automatic....

Harvey... I don't yet have a BW 35 and 65 infront of me to compare but why might the 65 be so much harder or impossible to adapt? The engine end of both is irrelevant, and BW35 not applicable for dolomite. The BW65 I have off an SD1 has a nice flat flange - with just 4 bolts. They are wider spaced t...

Re: 4 speed automatic....

hmmm. I have a lathe and mill, but no 3 phase electric to run them yet! Also have a mig, and have welded mild (and stainless), but not sure if it will weld aluminium!! (different wire, gas and..... more skill I think!) The BW65 from an SD1 has a nice circular flat face on the front, but it is about ...

Re: 4 speed automatic....

Right, after much trawling of books and internet, regretfully what I had in mind was wrong and what I have been informed of today is correct. I had in my mind that the BW65 was the one that had a removable bell housing, and that the BW65 was therefore the one to start with. Unfortunately it appears ...

Re: 4 speed automatic....

Thank you for that :) As I suggested at the beginning, one 1850 auto has had a manual o/d box for some years now - it always feels like its pulling away in 2nd, because the auto diff is still present. To combat this we fitted a sprint diff into father in law's ex 1850 auto last year (purchased as ma...
