This sounds like an issue i had with my new starter motor when the garage fitted it for me.

It was fine for a while but then the routine for starting the car became turn it over (no spark not even trying to start) release the key and it would start just as you release the key.

can not understand why i get a spark from the coil when i turn the ignition off but not when cranking over

Hello, after some help from you fine folk, my car drove in my mothering laws garage around 18 months ago, it was last started Novemebr last year due to the C word as i have been unable to visit them until recently.

The car is a 1980 1850 with Lumenition fitted and it is not sparking, i have changed ...

weber manifold 1850

Hello,

What is required to fit twin webers to a late 1850, plenty around for sprints but not as much for the 1850.

I have seen a few manifolds for sale from a TR7 will these fit, also the thermostat ?, i see manifolds for sale without?

all advise greatly appreciated.

Hi Pete, In my opinion, I would try and make a judgement of how bad the problem is first. If it is just a puff of smoke on starting and it passes the MOT smoke test ( assuming its an early car ) I wouldn't worry too much.

Hello,

just think out loud what is needed to fit a sprint engine into an 1850.

The engine in my car is puffing a small amount of smoke similar to a valve guide sill, it has been laid up for a few months but thought i see the odd puff before i put it in the mother in laws garage.

as mentioned most important thing is for the car to breath, i used to buy cover-craft covers that are very expensive, i now have a tailor made indoor cover that is soft and fully breathable.

have you checked the donut on the prob, when mine went it was worse when warm and in reverse.
