Re: 1850 flywheel allignment
My 1850 is an auto... so no flywheel so I have no experience.
Checked my 1850 workshop manual, no mention of alignment in the removal/refit instructions.
Sorry!

Re: Fuse Box
On the Spitfire when I got it I got sick of things like the headlights randomly stopping working. All down to the crappy fuse box. So I spent a winter re-wiring through a fuse/relay box I fitted next to the tunnel in the passenger footwell.

Re: 1850 Gearbox Bearing
Does anyone know the part no. for the 1850 3 rail non OD gearbox extension bearing? I know it's a generic LJ7/8 (one on order) but can't find the Dolly part no. as I only have access to '76 onward catalogue.
Here's the page from my 1973 parts book:

Re: Rubber or Polyurethane?
My 2pm worth... in an ideal world OE spec rubber would be the way to go, but in my experience across multiple models/marques the modern rubber is junk, plan on replacing every 12 to 24 months, less if they get contaminated with oil.

It does sound (on the video) to me like something catching intermittently.

Re: Rolling road recommendations please
There is a bit on his website called Clients & Costs.
https://www.aireytuning.com/#ourclients
It quotes "For 2 Twin Chock Carbs, 4 cyl £480 + Parts No Vat" and he treats SUs the same.
Wow. That's a lot more than Peter Burgess charged me for a day on his RR tuning the twin SUs on my Spitfire!

Re: JGJ - 1975 Dolomite Sprint
I find the return springs and linkages on twin SUs a pain when re-assembling - looking nice though!
As you say, polishing is pointless. Whoever "restored" my Spitfire and showed it at concourse events had PAINTED things like the dashpots and alternator metalwork in silver. Yuck.
