bonnet wanted

Bonnet required for my 1500fwd. Previous owner had the underside plated by the hinges but one hinge is now detached and the other one had a seized pin. I immediately gave the hinges on the 1500 HL a good oiling! My main problem is that I'm in the Portsmouth area and do not drive far these days. Coul...

Re: Triumph 1500 - value range?

TSSC (wash my mouth out) value serviceable at 2000 pounds. Mine cost 3000 from a dealer.

stamped in chassis number

I have been having correspondence with the DVLA for a few months regarding the chassis no. on the V5 not being the same as on the chassis plate on my 1500fwd. V5 is YB58118DL, on the chassis plate YB58718DL. I sent photos of the chassis plate and the car, and a copy of the heritage certificate which...

Re: stuck clutch

Thanks for replying, Tony. I have just freed it by jacking up a drive wheel, started in gear and jammed the brakes on. Worked second attempt. Like you say, quite a bang.

stuck clutch

My own stupid fault. Haven't operated the clutch on my 1500fwd for over a month and the plate appears to be stuck to the flywheel. Have tried starting in gear with clutch pedal down and brakes on but no results yet. I know I did something drastic back in the 80's when the same thing happened on one ...

Re: Fitting relays in the headlight circuits.

I've just fitted a halogen conversion kit to my 1500fwd. The kit came from Rimmer Bros. The instructions were fairly clear, apart from no mention of wiring the inner headlamps. Sussed that out. Like yours, I've put the relays and fuses on the inner wing above the battery.

New boy update

The 1500fwd is now on the road. I've done 7 miles! Drives exactly as I remembered from the ones I had in the 70's and 80's. Even down to the noise of the n/s wiper blade. Main difference is that the synchromesh works on this one. It will be an ongoing restoration. Will never be concours but certainl...

Hello everybody. I' m back into Triumph ownership after a break of 31 years. During the 70's and 80's I owned 1300 fwd, 1300TC fwd, 2x 1500 fwd and a Dolomite 1850. All succumbed to the tin worm. I have now got a 1972 1500fwd - well I've still got a load of spares to use! It came with an MOT but I d...
