Steering rack
Next job for me will be the steering rack and I was wondering what the advantages / disadvantages of a high ratio unit would be. Any thoughts?

Yesterday in Chapelhall.(Lanarkshire Scotland) saw a spanking black mk 3 cortina ..... 10 mins later a yellow avenger estate went same direction ...... perhaps they were meeting up

Thanks guys, with the cover off it all seems tight enough. So probs just go for seals and gaskets.
Reason for doing is evidence of water leak (rusty trail) from slot in block below the pump cover. I did wonder why that was there but I guess any water leaks from the pump need directed away from the ...

About to replace the seals or complete 6 vane unit.

Hi all, ref the attached photo, I have .... once again .... broken the small insert pipe (at the thermostat cover) for the overflow connection

when I were a lad........
you went to Halfords and bought engine coolant....
now they have a multitude of variations!
anyway I bought some OAT stuff but think this may be a big mistake and should have got the silicone stuff.
any advice welcome!

Thank for the advice guys, and cleverusername, I would agree MIG welding is the way to go, did my own (taught myself) outrigger replacement to a Vitesse back in the 90's but I have a pacemaker now and not allowed to use the elec welding (too much heavy direct current) but I would recommend that ...

Hi, I'm looking for some assistance in Central Scotland (Cumbernauld) with welding work (quite substantial) or I'll need to get a donor shell which I don't really want to do 'cos that effectively kills off one of our cars.

A quick trip to Perth today, on the way saw a green Dolly at Dunblane heading south with Land's End to John O'Groats written on the side.....wonder how it went ... anybody else tried this run?
