almost perfect
been out and about in my old sprint powered car, after a few dodgy moments with hot starts it has been going very well and very reliable. I know, I shoudnt push my luck with comments like that. Then suddenly, bang, the clutch failed, turned out to be the red hose flew off the nipple at the foot ...

Re: sprint woes.
it starts easy but judders and shakes. and only fires on two or maybe three cylinders, once i get it moving it slowly recovers back to full health. The wife has noticed it happens on short 15 minute stops, fine when refuelling or longer stops. Running rich? there is a thing, will fiddle. Starter ...

sprint woes.
my good old sprint powered Dutton has recently been playing me up. I know, shocking aint it. Starts and runs fine, never misses a beat. Recently it does not like hot starts, starts OK but only on a couple of cylinders, then three drive it hard and it all comes together again. Weird. I have changed ...

Re: Sprint clutch
Many thanks for the tips, going for it Friday. Just to clear things up it is my kit car, so clearances etc. not really a problem. engine and box together though, could be. I'm sure the four letter word will come to help though. Let the spanner clanking commence.

Sprint powered kit
My old Dutton with the sprint engine and box has been very busy these past couple of very hot weeks. 2 in number 120 mile trips around Devon lanes did cause me some concerns. It seemed to suffer fuel evaporation in parking spots, causing the odd embarrassed moment cranking it up !. The temperature ...

Re: whole can of worms time
very interesting. I have seen a few Saab motors from the hot aero 9-3 in kit cars, I have this engine from the 9-3 of 2001 vintage, still in the car sat here in the way with a slipping clutch. It does perform really well, so maybe I'll pass it on to the Vauxhall guys and reinvest the money in ...

whole can of worms time
I have an excellent 2001 Saab 2.0 turbo engine sat in my old car. I have an excellent Sprint with overdrive gearbox sat else where. Is it possible to blend the 2 together. Saab and Triumph did have a relationship at one time.

Re: Sprint engine down, bit of a failure
Just had a conversation with my old boss, who rebuilds old XK Jags, he says that they have returned to points due to the alarming amount of failures in the Jaguar camp. Some have even bought "new" distributors with the stuff all fitted and it has not started the engine before it failed. So as said ...

Sprint engine down, bit of a failure
On a lovely hot Bank Holiday Monday, the Dolomite Sprint powered kit car was behaving admirably as I wound my way around Dartmoor. 60 miles into the trip developed a misfire and the voltage gauge dropped to zero. Then we stopped, in the most barren place on Dartmoor, it died. Checked fuel, checked ...
