Lucas Rists terminals

#1 Post by RichardHyde »

Hi all,
Does anybody know where I can buy a few Lucas Rist terminals ? These are the pin connectors in the wiring loom plugs.
Thanks, Richard

Yes thanks. Have ordered some from them before but now all out of stock. Have asked them if they’re expecting any more stock...

Hmmm, you are right, most places seem out of stock or want a million quid for them or will only supply complete with housings not just the terminals. How annoying!

Unless originality is really important to you, my advice is bin them and fit something different. As long as the connector type you buy is rated for the power you're going to put through it, it doesn't really matter how two wire are connected up.

Be aware there are two types of round rists terminals. One holding tab and two holding tabs. Both are different and have their own housing type.

They certainly have an impressive selection of connectors! :D

So far as the Triumph Toledo & Dolomite connectors are concerned, I think it's Page 3 of 8 that is appropriate:

In the past, I have simply reused the old male & female brass connectors, in the various sizes of multi-way connector blocks, that I have salvaged from the car breakers' yards. It's what I did when I substituted the Dolomite adjustable steering column and sculptured dashboard into my 1974 Triumph Toledo 1300 in 1982/83 & 1984 respectively.

I have some white, black & red 20-way connector-blocks, from one or more BLMC cars, but I have yet to attempt removing the brass connectors and recycling them. Further investigation of currently available, multi-way connector blocks, revealed that these are Lucas-Rists TTS connectors, coloured either black, white, red or blue, in 3-way, 5-way, 7-way, 9-way & 20-way forms; stocked by 3 Way Components, in Luton, Bedfordshire. It appears that the captive brass connector pins & sockets are identical or very similar to those used in the Toledo & Dolomite.

Try contacting Lucas-Rists directly and ask whether they have any other stockists.
