Bottom ball joint now a thing of the past :-)

#1 Post by DF »

After having trouble with the bottom ball joint nut and arm touching my
Discs on hard cornering i have replaced the bottom arm and ball joint
The old set up was at the limits of its travel as i have my car quite :woohoo: low
This is how the ball joint sat on my car and touched the disc on very hard cornering

I have used 5/8 rose joints and solid aircraft quality stainlees steel rod as i wanted strength and reliability over weight saving as i use the car more on the road than track and having to do an emergency stop in the pot holed british roads :hotcross: will give them a beating
I still have a bit of work to do with the spacing of the joints but hope to have it on for coombe :jump4joy:

Maestro!

Sods Law though, you design out the one which appears to be in plentiful supply. Can you do something with the top ones next...

The ball joints i have used for the conversion are original rebuildable ones
The repo ones are different inside and have a step in them
There easy to make the only down side is the cost of the rose joints
As i have used the best quality and they are quite expensive
I suppose u could use cheaper ones but how often you would have to change them :?: :?: :?:
I was toying with the idea of using the original inner bush and just using 1 rose joint per arm  ..
Sod It
Im going to do a set with the original inner bush as well just to see how they perform
