Great vid as usual Mart.

This was a nice track, laid out on an old airfield with a couple of tricky chicanes on the back part of the lap. A wide variety of machinery present, including the usual Jap fare (Mazda RX7 seemed to be the weapon of choice), plus a smattering of Porsches, and a very nice Ferrari 360 drophead. Also a stunning Sunbeam Lotus, that went really well.

I cheekily booked a couple of Oxford appointments in the morning hoping to be there for lunch (spectating only this time) but work overran and I didn't arrive until 3ish.

Nevertheless, Mart very kindly allowed me to passenger for his last two sessions, which went really well. It was a beautiful day, and the Dolly went like a watch (a quick one at that!), and it was nice to see Jon and Diane putting the freshly rebuilt engine through its paces as well.

The only downside was that, thanks to a smattering of accidents, I took over four hours to get home.

Thanks again Mart - a super way to end the week.

Come on the rest of you - let's get those Dolly's out in anger!
Martin.

You all wait till next weekend. You won't see my 1850 for rust. And that's not a typo... 8)

Hi yes what a day the sprint ran well I had a good scrap with a Beemer M5 and he came up and stated "ah no wonder I could not catch you, your on slicks" mmmmmmmm methinks an M5 should whup a sprint all day, I had not the heart to tell him I had imposed a 5000 rpm limit to make certain that the sprint makes its Practical Classics photoshoot on Monday, If the M5 had come across Marts sprint Mart would have eaten him alive :woohoo:
Although our sprints are modified................they are not modified that much really.
These events run by Motorsport events.com are very very friendly affairs.
All joking aside the day went well by any standards and my engine is really going well.
Met the guy who Jensen Button was named after he is one of the team up there and has been racing for many years, he has driven Brian Culcheth's rally sprint and liked our cars.
He has some 6J minilites if any one is interested.(PM me)
I had asked other Triumph clubs to attend this event :( I would not bother to get Triumph owners together because clearly they do not want to.

Video is awesome Mart, can't get enough of it, seen quite a few of yours, they are all good.
I've had my fix now. Happy days. :D

Would love to give it a go in my 1850 if i ever get a chance, i won't be anywhere within the same time zone as you guys but it would still be fun, i could wave each lap as you pass whilst trying to slip stream an Allegro or Riley Elf.

Anyway as trackerjack has mentioned there does seem to be something getting in the way of triumphs all getting together on track, maybe it all comes back to that triumph snobbery thing again, i just don't know what it is but its such a shame.
Don't give up trying guys, one day who knows.

Anyone doing any more track days at Abingdon this year? I'm busy trying to make my Sprint a bit quieter, then I think it will finally be ready to head out. I've been convinced that an airfield would be the place to start and Abingdon isn't too far.

You are so right David, perfect for beginners, lots of safe runoff if you get it wrong, top instructers to help you, plus the folks who run these days know their stuff and are very very friendly but will not accept bad track manners, the only rub for me is the fact that there is no danger.............I like a bit of that.
