Take your plastic egg crate grilles and test fit them in the apertures of the new panel to ascertain whether or not you will be happy with the appearance. You might need to fettle the depth in order to get them sitting satisfactorily...

Tom has bought some weld thru primer for the very task, last night we primed them in zinc primer to stop them from rusting,as they will be in Toms garage for 2 weeks!!
Ill be watching all the skilled work going on and taking plenty of pics to help me with my restoration .If any one has any new or good SH dolly eyebrows they are willing to sell or a mint tan drivers door card letme know before the show please
We are going to need a welding screen, something to shield the public from the flash from the welding. Any ideas? We also need some powerfull lights to illuminate the work area. Any offers?

Just popped out to the garage and did a bit more investigating.
I found this:
Spoke to Nathan and he is going to get me some sheet metal to make up a repair panel with and doesn't think it will be too much trouble. Will need to be sorted before the wing goes on though.
Alun - The kidney grill bits are in the boot ready to be used to help line the front end up. It is miles out at the moment but I think it will be easier to get it right when the rest of the front end is in place?
I guess we will need an assortment of hammers other stuff to change the shape of panels though? I know nothing about this so suggestions would be great.
Thanks
Tom

The kidney grilles are trim and do not contribute to the alignment of where they sit, they just emphasise how crap it is. What I am attempting to fore warn is nothing to do with alignment and cannot be rectified by panel adjustment as they are fitted. The repro front panels are notorious for having insufficient depth for the grilles to sit in and they therefore protrude from the aperture once fitted, it is this that I am asking you to test fit as you may wish to adapt the flanges to accommodate them! Once the panel has been fitted you will not have opportunity to redress this...
Zinc based primer is hydroscopic incidentally, so your nice grey panels will attract and hold water if stored anywhere with humidity or dampness. Weld through primer is non hydroscopic,
