National Restoration Show & Autojumble Sun 25th October
Re: National Restoration Show & Autojumble Sun 25th October
Mike has kindly offered to transport my car to the stand on the Saturday afternoon. He will be at my place in Cov at about 2pm and we will arrive after loading up and approx 15mins drive time.
I will bring:
Compressor and assorted attachments
My car and the panels.
Sheet steel for any extra fabrication
Weld through primer
Seam sealer.
Rust converter
filler
few bits of wet n dry
assortment of spanners and sockets and screwdrivers
I also have a pair of trestles and an old door which would make a useable table that could be painted etc on.
2 rear doors for stripping and prep if there is time and space
Anything else I need to buy before the weekend?

Tony, you'd get my vote for spannering. We had a disastrous year a few back where there were many willing volunteers but few who could work with their own initiative...we could have done with several sets of wheels that year to keep the enthusiasm running! Certain tasks require prior knowledge as well as enthusiasm and I think your own skills would be wasted on wheels!
Tom, my experiences of seam sealer on Dolomites is it causes trapped moisture and short lived joints. Nasty stuff.
The weld through primer? What are you going to do with it on the day? The panels will need clean metal, or dry weld through primer with nothing underneath at points of weld. Also the stuff I've used before is quite volatile and shouldn't be used anywhere near welding equipment or flame. You would be better off removing the zinc oxide from welding points and spraying over with the weld through so it is good and dry on the panels for the day...

As Tom says, I'll be collecting him + car on Saturday afternoon. I'll bring two halogen floods on 8 ft stands and a pair of smaller ones on another stand, plus plenty of extension cables and dis boards. We'll probably have a bit of space left inside the van so we could collect some other stuff en route if that would help anyone, let me or Tom know.
Cheers
Cheers
Mike

Hi Alun
I'll sort the panels on Friday night so they are all primed with weld through where needed.
I tried the grills in the new front panel and as I thought the fit is shocking. We will need to reshape the lips of the panel before it is welded on so that they fit.
Does anybody have the bodywork hammers and skills needed to do this? I would have no idea where to start.
Thanks
Tom.

That is one solution; the only solution if you want to successfully use that panel. We will need to reshape the lips of the panel before it is welded on so that they fit.
Not easy. A solidly fixed vice or metal folder would be needed. Can you have a word with Bruce before hand? I understand he is in the panel trade and might be able to facilitate something?...

Sadly I can't attend this years show as I have to watch some fun run in Portsmouth. Words like Fun, Run and Portsmouth should never be used in the same sentence.

Re: National Restoration Show & Autojumble Sun 25th October
Right, here's the final list of volunteers;
Mad Mart
Purplebargeken
Mig Wielder
DavePoth
Miniman
Alfabax
Michael C
Pimento Sprint (David S)
xvivalve
Tom
Triumph1300
Steve
AP
Jeff Lane
Jannette & Danny
There will be a pass available for everyone on the list, each pass admits ONE person. As mentioned previously, Tom (or A.N. Other) will be parked up at the main entrance to the showground to distribute the passes on Sunday morning - there's no way I'd risk trying to post them out to people with the current postal strike under way! I'll have my moby switched on in the morning in case anyone can't find the person with the passes - the number is in DM.

As stated previously, there will not be much setting up to be done on the Saturday, there isn't going to be much display equipment used, but thanks for the offer

Re: National Restoration Show & Autojumble Sun 25th October
I now have a box of club spares in my car for Sunday. (Thanks Malc!)
If it's at all possible, it would be really handy if you could pay by cheque for spares to try and make the accounting easy. I'll try to have enough change on me to cover it if people do need to pay by cash, but I can't guarantee it for the whole day.
